Ifran Rahman has completed a study contesting the legitimacy of e-cigarettes being healthier than traditional cigarettes. What was the outcome? Well, it wasn’t so positive. It has been scientifically proven that e-cigs much like regular cigarettes are also detrimental to your health. Specifically when the vapors come in to contact with the gums. The vapors release inflammatory proteins that irritate gum cells at the molecular level. It was also found that the flavoring chemicals play a part in negatively effecting the health of gums. To add on to the negative impacts, e-cigs also contain nicotine which is also found in regular cigarettes. This is a highly addictive substance that also plays a part in leading to various forms of oral disease. On one hand it is terrible that e-cigs cause such outcomes, on the other hand it is even worse that many people hold the false impression that they are a healthier alternative to regular cigarettes. As people continue to unknowingly consume e-cigs while putting a false identity to them the cumulative damage will only continue to add up. It doesn’t help that e-cigs have been growing in popularity at a tremendous rate since inception.

Ifran Rahman hopes that the companies producing e-cigs will come up with a more transparent approach in addressing their ingredients and components used in producing their products. So far this has not been the case. With any added information, it is possible for Ifran Rahman to conduct more experiments and determine if there any more hazards to utilizing e-cigs. It is his number one goal to inform the public and help them to cultivate healthier consumption habits. Ifran Rahman is a Professor of Medicine and holds a PHD.
